SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Bug

Hi,

I was confused as I have a look at our eventLog of the Intranet Server because the following error message came up several times:

The update cannot be started because the content sources cannot be accessed. Fix the errors and try the update again.

Context: http://hostname/ Application, Portal_Content Catalog

For more information visit http://www.microsoft.com/servers/redirect/contentredirect2.asp

The Resolution for this Problem is as following:

Go to Central Administration -> Manage Search Service-> Configure Account and Proxy Settings

In this point you must add the Proxy Settings like following

Use the proxy server specified

Adress: 127.0.0.1

Port: 80

Do not use proxy server for adresses beginning with:

here you must specify your hostnames e.g. intranet;infoportal;servername;extranetName

and the full qualified domain names.

After you have completed these steps you should control following settings:

go to your intranet page.

Then go to the Site Settings and Choose Configure search and indexing

In Context Indexes should be 2 portal contents. The First should be Non_Portal_Content and the second should be Portal_Content. Both should have the Update Status 'Idle'.

Then go to Manage Content indexes there you should proof that the content will be used. If there are Documents in Index then anything seems right.

kind regards
